Robotics Project (Journal Entry 11)

Lucas, at one point in the class you said that we could just type up a bunch about our experience and it could count for credit because after all this is a writing course. I am freaking out right now because I’m not sure where I stand in this class and I would really really like to pass! I am not one to lie nor fabricate the truth and I hope you read this post you will understand that and have some mercy on my soul. If I wanted to cheat or take the easy way out I would have moved the Retro pi in the I hub to a separate television screen and passed it off as mine, but thats not the person I am and right about now Im starting to regret it. Initially when presented with the idea to take a raspberry pi assessment or to do something with it I thought it was a no brainer to take the assessment, but after have dosed off one class when present with the choice I decided to do something with the pi… how hard could it be?? Well hold on, because this is where the shit show begins. As for how hard could it be, I have no idea, I dont think that bad but I was never able to get there. There was always something in my way. I decided to go balls to wall and make this my best assignment yet on saturday, and so Sunday I drive to the I hub to get started woking on it and not in accordance to apple maps, the I hub is closed on sundays and so I go back after my class on monday and get started. Things aren’t bad at this point, I download NOOBS and think of ideas which took me about an hour and a half and then I go to your class. I have other exams and a project to work on so I dont get to work on it tuesday, but after my exam on wednesday I sprint back to the I hub (its 5:10pm at this point) to see if you can give me any assistance, but by the time i get there its too late. Luckily the student Ryan Moots allows me to borrow his pi so I can work on it. I leave for Rome with my family Thursday morning at 7, I still need to pack and get my things in order, but I go home and try to work on this Pi anyways… This is where shit gets bad.. I dont have a usb keyboard…. I naturally hit google and youtube looking for anyways to use my laptop keyboard for the pi but everything looks very complicated or dangerous to my computer so I decide to go to Rome and figure it out there. When I get to Rome and check in at the front desk I see that they have a USB keyboard and I get really excited. After exploring Rome for a bit we come home around 3pm est. and every body gets ready for bed. I start to get started on this assignment and realize I forgot an HDMI chord. The TV in our room doesnt have one, the tv in the lobby doest have one and the front desk is closed… Regardless, my grade is on the line and is driving me to do some desperate things. At this point my only hope is to convert my computer into a raspberry Pi. I start watching youtube videos telling me to use PuTTY and word press to re-write the code, My mom is screaming at me to go to bed because we have tours at 1:00 AM est. Naturally the anxiety hits me really hard and I stoop even lower. I wait till my moms asleep and I break into the front office of the hotel as a last resort. (not lying) to be honest its more trespassing than breaking in, but I was the only one there and clearly not supposed to be there, the front dest lady just forgot to lock it. but regardless, the monitor they use is one of dumb ones with the computer built into it. So after a good 5-7 hours of attempting to get anything done on this pi I am finally admitting defeat and I hope this post can make up for the writing component at least. I can post photos of this experience if that would help in any way.
